The right to pleasure
Sexual rights are an area where social norms particularly strongly regulate bodies, consent and pleasure. A feminist perspective reminds us that the right to decide about our own sexuality is part of our right to autonomy.
Intimacy as politics
The history of women’s sexuality is also a history of taboos, medicalisation and control. That is why pleasure can be political: as a right to our bodies, consent, intimacy, our own time and way of life — including for women and LGBT+ people.
A dildo is an ecstatic, political, cosmic and organic object all at once.
Its power lies in being intimate and collective at the same time. This is activism through pleasure, discovery and change; the most serious play imaginable. Pleasure and a culture of intimacy can become a language of new alliances, possibilities and rights.
